Suggest Treatment For Hives

i have hives i have for about 5 weeks now ive had prednisone prescribed to me three times the hives have not gone away i went the the hosptial about 2 weeks ago cause the hives were so bad they gave me a shot and it went away for a couple of days then came back

Thanks for the query.

From the description you have provided, I feel that you might be repeatedly exposed to the allergen which is producing hives on and off. Prednisone will only provide temporary relief. For permanent cure you need to see an Immunologist.

The Investigations and treatment that could be followed by the immunologist are:
1. Pin pointing of the allergen after exposing you to common allergens one by one.
2. Medications like mast cell stabilisers
3. Immunotherapy- that constantly and frequently exposing you to the allergen so to reduce the reaction gradually.
