Suggest Treatment For Hot Flashes During Menopause
Hi My wife is currently going through menopause. She had menopause symptoms for 3 years (2014-2016) then they went away for more than 6 months and are back again since 2 months ago. She is 48 years old. Has had no medical issues except Hypo thyroid 2 years ago which was treated after taking prescribed medication. She stopped medication a year ago. In addition to having hot flash sweats at night and some minor and short ones during the day she experiences the following symptoms: 1. She has been suffering from off and on shortness of breath and heavy upper chest feeling which radiates to neck and face and head which is accompanied by heaviness in left arm since 3 months ago. We went to doctor a month ago and they performed a Spirometry test and an EKG which were both normal. We also had chest x-rays done and that was normal as well. 2. Most of the times, she has cold feet at night and day. We appreciate your advice.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your history, as you already consultaed with doctor and all tests i.e spirometry and EKG are normal, so cardiac and respiratory possibilities were ruled out. Hot flushes may be due to decreased estrogen level in body due to menopause, So kindly start tab. estrogen after gynaecologist consultation. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale
