Suggest Treatment For Hyper Sexual Arousal Disorder Post Opiate Withdrawal

Hi! I was on prescription pain medication (fentanyl patch, oxycodone, etc) for about 3 years and zubsolv (suboxone) for 2 years. I tapered down from 5 mg to 1/2 mg of the zubsolv over a 3 month period. I quit completely on 5/30/16. I ll always remember that date! I was diagnosed with ADD (along with the rest of the world, I know) in feb 2016 and started adderall. The adderall helped very much with, well...with accomplishing everything; not perfection, but my family noticed a big difference as well. Anyway, I take the adderall everyday, 25mg XR and 20-30 mg immediate release (prn). I ve been clean from any opiate since 5/30/16. I m having extreme pervasive sexual arousal disorder symptoms and I ve never had them before. It s now painful and impossible to relieve. I have a history of pelvic floor, endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, and GI issues/thyroid storm. I ve had a full hysterectomy with no issues in over a year. Could withdrawal symptoms be part of this still? I can t get any relief. Today I almost missed a job interview because I was so aroused I couldn t focus; not even aroused, but my sexual organs have taken control. I can t sleep and NO amount of intercourse with my husband or self-stimulation helps. I ve even put lidocaine on my sexual organs. I ve self-stimulated at least 8 times a day for a week and it was close to 100 a day during the first week or two after stopping the zubsolv. Have I caused inflammation and I need to leave it alone? Is this part of withdrawal or adderall meds? Or is this a real thing unrelated to withdrawal? I ve read opiate withdrawal can cause hyper sexuality, but this is getting to be extreme. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Post opiate withdrawal can cause some level of sexual arousal but not the extent mentioned here. There sounds disturbances with frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex or other neurotransmitter channels. The same must be presented to treating physician for further management without any delay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
