Suggest Treatment For Hypertension Stage-1 And High BP

My boyfriend will be 19 in June and he has Stage 1 hypertension. He didn t start having high blood pressure until a year and two months ago, after his ACL surgery. Are those two somehow related to each other? He went to the hospital recently and his kidney function renin level was 1.6. what s happening with his body?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is normal [renin levels unless if he is on low sodium diet]. He can work on lifestyle modification[no alcohol, smoking, caffeine etc.] lipid and fat control ESP, LDL levels control and dietary [fruits, juices, boiled vegetables, aloe vera, amla, multi vitamin for a week monthly] weight loss and exercise. If his BMI is more and I will recommend ECG it will tell diagnosis and antihypertensive drug [eosinopril etc., can be started].

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
