Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism

Thankyou for your response Mr. Topiwala. It was ascertained that I have hypothyroidism by both of my doctors because my sister and grandmother both have the disease, I had obvious symtoms (always fatigued and sleeping 12 hours everynight), and my primary determined that there was a goiter was present at the time of diagnosis. Is it possible to have normal T4 and T3 at 125mcgs if I did not have hypothyroidism to begin with? I understand that a target TSH should be considered. The problem is after trying every dose, my TSH is never within range. I m currently at 125mcgs. Should I lower my medication again in attempt to obtain an appropriate TSH? Both of my doctors suggest that I ignore the suppressed TSH, because my T3 uptake, T3 and T4 is within range. What is your suggestion? I will definately have my cortisol checked again but would you suggest that I try lowering the synthroid and introduce cymotel? I ask because my T3 is typically mid to low/normal and my T4 is always high/normal. I should have mentioned before that I know how to interpret the tests, and after 5 years of research everyday, I understand the disease very well. That would have spared you a lot of explaining :) but thanks anyway.

Hello,

A suppressed TSH is suggestive for a high dose of levothyroxine, as you may know, it is not recommended to keep suppressed TSH for a long time as it may cause osteoporosis.
So I would recommend to lower the dose, try 112.5 mcg.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
