Suggest Treatment For Increase In BP And Acid Reflux
I m taking benicar and vytorin. My doctor prescribed prilosec for acid reflux and I notice a increase in my blood pressure, is there any sysmptons that this will happen when mixing medicines ? I m 52 year old male 230 lbs, I started taking prilosec a week ago and blood pressure has raised to up, highest 175/106 last night, then seems to be around 144/99 pulse 66, I was around 130/87 pulse 77.
Prilosac contains omperazole which is an enzyme inducer so it may increase breakdown of medicine you are taking for hypertension and makes it less effective. In my opinion you should stop prilosac and switch over to other antiacidity medicine like ranitidine or pantoprazole with antacids about which your doctor knows.
I would advise you to visit again to your doctor for recording of blood pressure and readjustment of dosage for antihypertensive medicine and another drug for acidity and reflux In addition to medicines you should follow these measures for reflux. Have small and frequent meals. Don't lie down immediately after food. Have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid fatty, fried, spicy and junk food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. B R Hudda
