I'm just 63 as of 7/12/11 and 5'6", 165#, very active and walk about 2 mi. daily with my dog; however, I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, PVD, Raynaud's, chronic tenosynovitis across ulna and back of hand (in extensor tendon), I've been diagnosed with vasospasms, arteriostenosis/sclerosis, IBS, inflammatory disease, etc. In any case, heart disease, PVD and strokes run in my family, also arthritis. Yesterday I had spontaneous petechiae back of left hand, fingers, wrist and onto forearm. My wrist also really hurts if I don't take one ibuprofen or one adult aspirin daily but have taken it every day just prn pain and the doc told me not to take either due to it might make me bleed more so I don't know what I can take to decrease the inflammation that is obvious across the ulnar area and to decrease the pain. He told me to wait a couple days and see if it spontaneously resolves and take no NSAID nor aspirin meantime. If it doesn't resolve in a couple days he says I need a platelet count (I have had on numerous occasions in the past few years low mean platelet volume, like under 50 and have been diagnosed with vasculitis.) What can I take for the inflammation and pain in my left hand and wrist since I am an active person and live alone so I can't just sit and cradle my left hand nor should I.
