Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have problem of insomnia since last 4 months. The insomnia is causing severe stress and you are getting depressed. All investigations came normal and OTC sleeping pills are not working. As you have no other psychiatric symptoms so most likely its primary insomnia. I would like you to improve sleep hygiene to get good sleep and if no improvement occurs by improving sleep hygiene then consult a psychiatrist or sleep specialist for treatment.

The main points that should be remembered to improve sleep hygiene are- Fix your time to go to bed and don't watch TV or read anything that activates mind from bed. Avoid tea, coffee or alcohol in evening. Light exercise followed by bath with warm water helps in good sleep. Don't think about not getting sleep again and again. These measures will help to get you good sleep.

If symptoms persist then visit for medicines. Medicines like Benzodiazepines as Lorazepam, Clonazepam or Z-drugs as Zolpidem, Zopiclone etc helps in getting good sleep. These drugs have abuse potential so should be taken for short periods of time only. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
