Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Fever And Exhaustion When Diagnosed With Osteoarthritis

Hi, I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I have developed bone spurs on my finger and toe joints. I have still been able to stay active and work; however, lately I have been experiencing lack of energy and occasional fevers. I have discussed it with my Doctor and he has recommended analgesics. The fever worries me since it occurs without a precursor. I start by feeling a little tired and then I start aching in every joint - like the flu. It never lasts more than 24 hours. Can my arthritis be the cause of this symptom?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should get investigated for type of arthritis (including viral fever) for which you would need antiviral treatment under expert physicians care. Osteoarthritis needs pain medication as per need & regular physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
