Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Pain On Left Side Of Face

I ve been having pain on and off for several days now, on the left side of my face - cheek, jaw, ear, and just tonight, the back left side of my tongue. I thought it was sinusitis, and my nurse practitioner thought so too, and gave me shots of Rocephin. But it s still ongoing, and I m sitting here in mild pain right now, and trying very hard not to get scared. It shouldn t be my teeth, as I ve been to the dentist at the right times this year, but something s going on!! Please, can you give me any advice??

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of intermittent pain on left side of face which seems to be due to temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face and it could be due to trigeminal neuralgia .

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult neurologist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like diabetic neuropathy. Doctor may prescribe you muscle relaxant and anti inflammatory medications. You should start with light muscle exercise and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and start facial muscles physical therapy.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
