Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Sharp Pain In The Upper Left Quadrant
I have an intermittent sharp burning pain in the upper left quadrant near rib cage at about the diaphragm level Can tell should I be concerned my brother passed almost two years ago from liver cancer we later found out he had hepatitis and because he lived with my Mom and I was her caregiver I was in their home everyday
Hello Your brother passed away due to LIVER cancer and your were caretaker . I want to tell you that mostly liver cancer is not a communicable disease . The other most important thing is in your case pain is on the left side upper quadrant ( liver is on the right side except a lobe ) . In your case this pain may be due to many possibilities , these include : 1 Due to splenomegaly ( enlargement of spleen). Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound . 2 Pleural effusion , if pain is for long duration .Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest. 3 Consolidation of the lower part of lung .Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest . Since you didn't mention other symptoms , so it is very difficult to establish any diagnosis but deal as mentioned . Consult a physician and get his opinion don't think about cancer of liver.
