Suggest Treatment For Internal Pain After Falling

I am 66, with moderate asthma and occasionally use a bronchodilator. Two days ago I fell from front step onto my concrete walkway, falling mostly on my right side and back, with my arm somewhat underneath. Since then I have internal pain on my right side and wonder if I should get an X-ray, or use ice and Ibuprofen on it. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms might be due to Joint sprain or other minor injury. I advice you to:
- Analgesics (Acetaminophen or ibuprofen) twice & tab. Seropeptidase thrice daily (if swelling is noticed)
- Take antacid along with each dose
- Rest and don't over-strain the affected area
- Ice pack to relieved of pain and swelling
- Check X-ray of right shoulder with arm to rule out fractures (because of elderly age group)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
