Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 3-4 nights when I lie down on my right side I get an irregular rhythm of heartbeats. The first night I was so scared because it didn't stop so I went to the ER. When I got there they didn't see anything on the ECG but I was also lying on my back, a pattern I now see. I see that it only happens when lying on my right side but that happens to be how I sleep best since my 8 back surgeries. I had a heart murmur as a child that they said I grew out of as a teen but I know my doctor now says she hears from time to time. I am 34 yrs old but heart disease in my family does not discriminate and has hit people young. This weird rhythm of beats is weirs and uncomfortable and I know it goes away if I change positions it just feels like it shouldn't be there at all.
I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to cardiac arrhythmia.
Anxiety or gastro-esophagal reflux could mimic this clinical situation too.
Coming to this point, I would recommend performing an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring and a cardiac ultrasound in order to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia.

Suggest Treatment For Irregular Heart Rate
Hello, I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to cardiac arrhythmia. Anxiety or gastro-esophagal reflux could mimic this clinical situation too. Coming to this point, I would recommend performing an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring and a cardiac ultrasound in order to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia. In the meantime, I would recommend trying a PPI (omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc.) in order to help against acid reflux. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
