Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods

Dear doctor. I am 18 years old, I have irregular periods. I have been having my period for 5 years now, and it's still irregular. I am not sexually active, I exercise everyday, not excessively though, and I am not under my average weight. I am starting to get worried. Is it normal? Should I consider going on a birth control pill? Are there other possibilities?
