General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Medroxy progesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Doctors often prescribe birth control pills (oral contraceptives) containing the hormones estrogen and progesterone to help control irregular periods.

A hormone medication called progestin can also help trigger periods in women who don't get them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family physician
