Suggest Treatment For Irritation In Nose And Itchy Hands

I have a chronic sinus infection. this past April.6th was coughing, blowing my nose often or allergies I thought? I called my Primary Dr. saw the N.P. who ordered Augmentin 150mg bid x 10 days. my nose became very sore. I tried everything to soothe my nostrils, from vaseline , vicks vaporub, vit. E, and several others even a steroid cream. it seems the Aloe cream and L-Lysine ointment wth vitamins A,D, & E and cocoa butter did help some. I also am taking a good probiotic. I do have a Lichens sclerosis vaginally which my Gyn DR. Rx with Chlobetosol 1 1/2 yrs. ago After the AB RX in April 2015 it seemed to get worse. The Gyn Dr. ordered 1dose of Diflucan and Mycostatin cream. it helped a bit. I feel I have a fungus problem. perhaps when it got itchy even after washing my hands I would blow or touch my nose and have this irritation around my nose and nostrils. Any suggestions? what shall I do? I am tired of this continuing and probably should see a dermatologist?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about having a known case of Lichen Sclerosis, gynecologist's treatment, itching, touching fingers to nose, now have the problem of Chronic Sinus infection, have irritation in nose and itchy hands, coughing, blowing nose, applying vaseline, vicks vaporub, Vitamin and others nut the problem persists.
The possibility of sinusitis and fungal infection is always there and I hope you have no diabetes.
This itself can cause rhinitis of some sort and goes into chronic nature with insufficient treatment.
Another possibility of Lichen should be watched for and investigated accordingly.
I would advise you the following in such cases:
Consult an ENT Surgeon for proper clinical examination, ENT Endoscopy.
CT scan of nose and sinuses.
Relevant tests of blood.
All these things will give a proper diagnosis and thus allow proper management as per the exact cause thus found..

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
