Suggest Treatment For Itchiness And Dandruff On The Scalf

Hi, it has happened twice that i have scratched my head vigorsously in sleep so much so that i wake up in middle of the night due to that head scratching, then stop doing that n then go to sleep. If i m conscious enough i would never scratch my head even if there is dandruff or any itch. What could be the possible reason of unconscious scratching?

Hello. I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Based on the history provided dandruff( pityriasis sicca) is the most likely possibility. If I were your treating dermatologist, I would have started you on ketoconazole 2% shampoo thrice weekly for a month and with that an oral antihistamine medication such as Tab.levocetrizine 5mg once daily for about 1 to 2 weeks to curtail the itching and ask for a follow up after 3 weeks of therapy. I would advice for a visit with your dermatologist for the same. If there are anymore queries kindly feel free to ask.
Wishing you best of health.
