Suggest Treatment For Itching And Soreness In Leg

My wife had ligament reconstruction. She was then put in a cast afterwards. When the cast was taken off i could see why she had been complaining of itching as all her hair foilicles where raised and red looking very sore, so sore we could barely touch it. Her leg was also very red.Three days later and it has not gone down. It is still very itchy, all the hair foilicles from the knee down are red and raised. And she has a very patchy red leg. When she stands up the leg, again from the knee down, turns bright red, almost purple. Any suggestions would be extremely thankful!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello, as per the history, the lesions appears as occlusion folliculitis, also itching is commonly associated in this condition. I would adv you a course of antibiotics with cap Cephalexin 500mg four times per day for 7 days along with tab Cetrizine 10 mg at bedtime and apply nadibact cream locally on the lesions twice daily.
The condition should resolve with this in 7 days.
In case any other complaints develop, i would suggest visiting a dermatologist for evaluation.
Thanks
Take care
