Hello. Thank you writing to us at healthcaremagic
I will keep a possibility of
Lichen Simplex Chronicus (LSC).
LSC is characterized by darkening and thickening of skin at the affected site. Thickening is a result of chronic itching and scratching.
This thickened skin in turn generates more desire to itch and therefore the more you scratch the more it itches and it becomes a self perpetuating cycle i.e itch-scratch-itch cycle.
The area around the base of the
scrotum is commonly affected with this condition.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use a topical mid potent steroid e.g
mometasone furoate 0.1% cream, twice daily for 2 weeks.
This is a prescription steroid, therefore I suggest you to visit a
dermatologist in your region for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as prescription.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g
cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
