Suggest Treatment For Itching On The Nail Bed

I had my right big toenail removed two weeks ago. They did not use phenol to prevent regrowth. I m following the aftercare instructions and see no signs of infection but as it heals the area around the nail bed is itching like crazy. Is there any way to help that?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The usual cause is subungual fungal infection most likely.

Need further prescription of antifungal as itraconazole or else in terms of oral therapy as well as an ointment to control the current episode and prevent future attacks as well.

Till that time, should keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid and apply neosporin ointment or powder for local purpose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
