General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Itching on the scrotum is commonly due to sweating & poor hygiene. Staying in sweat for a longer time causes fungal infections (jock itch). Other medical conditions can be allergy, atopic dermatitis or Genital warts. You can take a course of anti fungals (Fluconazole) & apply hydrocortisone ointment to get rid of the itching.

You are suggested to get physically examined by a GP. Your treating GP can tell you to do STD tests since you had been sexually active previously. This is to detect any STI's. You will be treated with antihistamines, antibiotics/antivirals depending upon the type & severity of the infection detected.

You can apply ointments containing topical corticosteroids in the affected area. Wear loose fitting cotton clothes, take regular showers. Keep your private area dry else fungal growth will get triggered. Avoid multiple partners & sex till you are being treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
