Suggest Treatment For Itching Red Bumps After A Dog Scratch

I was scratched by my dog a week ago and the scratch has not healed and almost immediately I had red bumps and am itching like crazy both my forearms have patches of red bumps, to the point of bleeding from scratching. a nurse prac. gave me steroid cream and it has done nothing to ease this.

Hi.
As per your case history you are having prurigo simplex.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
