Suggest Treatment For Itching Sensation And Redness Around The Waist

My mom is 84 and is having an allergic type of reaction to her bladder control briefs. This rash develops around the elastic leg opening. She must wear these constantly as she has lost most of her bladder control. Is there an over the counter topical that would address the itch and redness? Thank you!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history your mother is having irritant rash.
My treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
