This weekend my right thumb begin to itch and swell as though I had an insect bite, but I didn t feel the insect bite. After an hour or so my thumb had begun to swell all the way down to my wrist. I put some insect bite medicine on it and went to bed thinking it would be better by morning. Instead I woke up around 2:30 am with the inside of my mouth and lips swollen but only on the left side of my mouth. I went to the ER and they gave me a steroid shot and benedryl which eventually cleared it up. The next day I seemed find, but the day after I had another reaction which this time started in my right index finger with itching and swelling. Again I went to bed an woke up around 5:00 am with the right side of my mouth inside and out swollen as well as my face reaching up to my eye and around to the back of my head to the base of my neck. I don t know what to think of this. I ve never had an alergic reaction to anything before. The only thing I ate that was different than usual was some mango fruit. Could this have caused such a reaction. The inside of my mouth is still sore and I fear another attack even though I m on a regimen of steroid pills and benedryl (50 mg) every 6 hours. Have you ever heard of such a reaction?
