Suggest Treatment For Itchy And Red Spots On The Legs

Hi, I m 50yo, I have an Autoimmune condition which has given me Diabetes, Addison s Disease also my Thyroid needs support - Thyroxine and I went into menopause at age 40. Apart from all this, I m extremely well although a little over weight. My question is - every summer for the past 3 I get spots on my legs resembling insect bites, they re very itchy and quite red. My doctor doesn t know what they are and they seem to clear up with Steroid Cream (1%). Do you have any ideas what this could be or how they can be avoided? I don t wet shave as my Doc thought they could be ingrown hairs. Thanks

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy and red spots on the legs which seems to be due to hair follicle infection leading to folliculitis and it could be due to furuncle or boil. Need not to worry. Visit dermatologist once if symptoms keeps on persisting. Start treatment after complete examination and proper prescription. You should get skin patch test and allergy test done to find out exact cause of disease and start treatment accordingly. You should wear loose clothes and avoid sharing them with anyone. You should apply betnovate ointment on them 2-3 times a day. You should take course of oral antibiotics. Maintain complete hygiene and keep area little dry. You should avoid touching or pricking bumps. I would suggest you to apply topical antibacterial ointment.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
