Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes After Treatment With Remicade
my husband has received 3 treatments with Remicade through IV. He is due for another on Nov. 11th. He has been itching in various parts of his body with a rash . Cream seems to take it away. But it keeps coming back. Should he continue with the treatments, or stop . Will this be an ongoing problem with the itching if he continues?
This is due to allergic reaction to Remicade. This is very common with Remicade. The severity of allergies varies from person to person and can range from minor rash to anaphylaxis. Premedication of chlorpheniramine and dexamethasone before Remicade infusion is used to prevent allergic reaction. Advice 1. Take premedication of chlorpheniramine, paracetamol and dexamethasone before Remicade infusion 2. Continue Remicade as suggested 3. Levocetirizine 5 mg – 1 tablet once daily for 7 days 4. Dexamethasone (Dexona) 0.5 mg – 1 tablet twice daily for 7 days 5. Apply betamethasone cream (Betnovate - C cream) locally every 8 hours 6. Do not scratch the area as it will cause skin damage and infection I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
