Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes Caused Due To Poison Ivy
Poison ivy. Taken Benydrl, used Technu and even Ban roll-on unscented deodorant (a landscaper I know swears by it). Condition seems to be worsening. I kept layering on more Technu every few hours (I didn t wash off prior application). Did same with Ban after Technu did nothing for 2 days. I did some yard work Tuesday and by Wed night my arms were bubbling up with poison ivy conditions (hundreds of bubbles between wrists and elbows only, mainly on inside of arms). Seems as I ve gotten older (61) I cannot even look at brush and not get poison ivy or sumac. Outside of prescription drugs, any other suggestions? TIA; greatly appreciate your assistance.
Your symptoms seem to be related to a an allergic reaction due to poison ivy. I suggest using anti histamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily. I also suggest using Hydrocortisone cream for local application. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to use steroid injections as prescribed by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
