Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Thighs And Abdomen

I have a terrible rash at the top of my thighs and bottom of my stomach. It itches terribly and I find myself constantly scratching and the skin sheds. I have tried a few creams but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be helpful. I am obese if that makes a difference.

Hi,

This is suggestive of a fungal infection. Fungal skin infections are common in humid conditions especially in skin folds. You have not mentioned if you are diabetic, since this type of skin infection is more common in diabetics. I recommend screening for diabetes. To treat the rash, apply a topical anti-fungal such as Clotrimazole/Ketoconazole cream.

If the rash is severe, consider oral anti-fungals such as Fluconazole or Itraconazole if there are no contraindications. Use a non sedating antihistamine such as Cetirizine 10mg at night to help relieve the itching. Get well soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Felicia Manickam
