Suggest Treatment For Itchy Ringworm On The Thighs
I ve had what I believe to be ring worm (raised skin and discolor creates partial ring around some spots) on my upper thighs just to the side of my testicles for a bit. After using a steroid cream a friend gave me it has continued to return after each time the symptoms decreased or disappeared. It itches prominently and sometime burns at night. My dr. just prescribed Nystatin cream, and after 2 days I m still very itchy, almost burning, at night, and my skin almost seem more inflamed or irritated. Any thoughts on whether this is ring worm, could it be something else, are there other treatment options, am I on a good course of treatment?
The steroid cream would have treated the itching and it can be used temporarily with anti fungal creams for fungal rashes for this reason, it is not used for too long because it would actually delay healing
Fungal rashes are difficult to treat, it can take 2 to 3 weeks for a fungal infection to resolve with consistent treatment so you need to continue using the nystatin for this length of time to see improvement. You can restart the steroid for 2 to 3 days ONLY, to help reduce the itching.
If there is no improvement then you may need an oral course of anti fungal medication.
I hope this helps
