Suggest Treatment For Itchy Skin In An Elderly Person

My grandma is 103 years old. She s been having itchy skin for the last few years ( I heard this condition is very common due to old age). She s gone to specialists and dermatologists, but none of their prescriptions worked! I heard she s been using cetaphil and it moisturizes her skin for a short while ( still not strong enough for her skin). She has a very thin skin and her skin cannot produces moisturize). Could you recommend a better medicine to relief her itchy skin?(especially around her scalp). Thank you very much

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for the query.
Going by the history, it looks as if she has dry skin.
Use a good moisturising agent for the same.
As for the itchy skin, temporary use of antihistaminic medicines would be helpful.
It would be better if you see a dermatologist for expert opinion.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
