Suggest Treatment For Itchy Spot After A Bug Bite

I have a smallish itchy spot on my left foot that s been there for about 8 months. At first I thought it was a bug bite, but every once in a while it still itches and I ve really scratched it a lot. Sometimes there s dry skin with it, and now I ve just put some neosporin so it looks different (no dry scaly patch). Ideas?

Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM. For a lesion on the foot that is associated with itching, two things to consider is a fungal infection or dermatitis. With a fungal infection, anti-fungal pills or creams area used. With a dermatitis, a topical cortisone cream is usually prescribed. Any anti-bacterials, such as Neosporin would not help if it were either of these two conditions. It is best to have someone evaluate the area to determine which it is.
I hope this helped answer your question. If you have any further questions, I am here to help.
Thanks.
