Suggest Treatment For Joints And Body Pain, Headaches And Fatigue
My significant other (66 year old male) who is visiting the Caribbean was told by a local doctor there that he may have Zika. They would not do a blood test to confirm because they reserve the limited supply they have for pregnant women only. He has been symptomatic for over 2 weeks. Complete body aches, joint aches, headache and fatigue, NO fever or rash. (He is unable to even turn a door knob). To my knowledge these symptoms sound more like Dengue or Chikungunya. If it is Zika when is he most infectious. If a mosquito were to bite him (after his infectious stage) and that mosquito bit another person of child bearing years could she become infected with Zika? He has been there for 3 weeks and will be returning Dec 5th. Does this need to be reported to the CDC when he returns? Thank you for your time.

Hello, As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
