Suggest Treatment For Keratoconus And Difficulty In Reading

I have keratoconus and I got fired today at my work, because of performance issues. I explained to them about my eye disease and that I require the hard contacts, and that I have a hard time reading small print and small print on electronic scanners, and with dust, and that contacts irritate my eyes. Is there any legal steps I can take, or disabllity I can get. I am go to the VA for my treatments. What should I do?
