im 79 and suffering from chronic pain, had twospinal fusions, multipol steroid injections,to no avail, take the meds im told. also I have a 15 yr old kidney from a son which is showing signs of failure. creatinine from 1.2 to 2.6 in one year all adding to loss of weight, sleepless nights and multiple meds from drs. to allieviat depression..cant stand it. nothing seems to work. ithink I need to see a psychriast (sp). my Internist has rec a clinic where you must prove your need. how can you help?
As your creatinine is high, you can't have pain medications like NSAIDs. Opioids are better tolerated. To those who come to my clinic with similar symptoms, I would suggest pain relief Oxycodone in combination with Acetaminophen like Percocet. Hydrocodone can also be taken for pain relief. You need diuretic for kidney failure and the cause is to be determined.
If you are diabetic, strict control is essential. Strict control of blood pressure. Cognitive behavioral therapy is for depression. Do meditation for 5-10 mins. Eat more fiber containing foods and avoid potassium containing foods.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
