Suggest Treatment For Kidney Stones According To A CT Scan

I have a kidney stone. They found it through a CT scan. It s been 6 months. Though it has moved down since then, I still haven t passed it. 6 months ago I saw an urologist and she told me to drink plenty of water and 3 beers a day(?). Now, my foot hurts especially when I ve been on it all day. I m at my wits end to get this stone to pass! Any suggestions?

Hello,

Sometimes the stone stays at a place and does not move for years. It is really very unpredictable to tell when a stone will pass through urine. However, if you keep drinking lots of fluids on regular basis, there are reasonably more chances of passing it in urine faster. Beer was advised to you as beer increases urinary output and thus chances of eliminating stone in urine increase.

The foot pain is not related to kidney stone in any way. You should visit a physician regarding the foot pain. Wearing orthopedic shoes might help if pain occurs only due to long time standing.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
