So I hurt my foot by kicking a goalpost instead of the ball in soccer. It has hurt for around three weeks now and the pain hasn t decreased. What could it be and how can I treat it? Also, I haven t been playing for those weeks except for 2 short games of 25 minutes.

Hello,

You are suffering from knee pain caused due to injury as you hurt your foot by kicking a goalpost. You are advised rest. Do not continue to play for a couple of days. It has been 3 weeks and the pain is still there. You should get clinically examined by an Orthopedics, get X-ray, CT, MRI done to detect any fracture, dislocation, tendon, ligament injury , sprain or muscle injury.

Once the internal injury is detected you will be treated accordingly. In the mean time, keep the affected leg elevated on a stool while sitting or on a pillow when on bed. You can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one stat when needed. It will help to give relieve from pain, soreness and inflammation.

You can also apply pain relieving ointment or sprays for relief. You will be given conservative treatment. Wearing a compression sleeve for the knee may be helpful. Warm compress may give relief. Stay away from addictions if any. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
