Suggest Treatment For Lack Of Bowel Movement After Ankle Surgery

My husband had ankle surgery on Monday of last week and is, therefore, not very active. He has not had a bowel movement in a couple of days and is very constipated. I gave him 100mg of stool softener, Docusate Sodium, last night but not results yet. What would you suggest?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, no need to give any medicines for this but better to ask him to have more water, and fibber containing diet, keep the habit of going for defecation every at fix time no matter whether it is feeling of going for defecation of not but just be inside and sit there for while without applying any force doesn't matter if no stool passed, hope this information helps, take care.
I find this answer helpful
