Hi, My husband has a large boil like spot on his bottom. It started with a small black spot in the middle, but it has tripled in size over night. We took him to the doctor and she said that it did not have fluid in it to be drained and put him on an antibiotic and pain meds. He is in terrible pain. The center of it now has a hole in it, but nothing is draining. What should we do? I am very concerned about the black spots.
I can understand your deep concern for the large boil on the buttock of your husband.
It appears that your husband has developed a deep seated infection of the area which has got inflamed.
In such cases a proper antibiotic therapy is very much required along with anti-inflammatory drugs.
In my patients I prefer to give higher antibiotic with Amoxycillin and clavulinic acid or cefixime with clavulinic acid in proper dose.
An anti-inflammatory tablet with paracetamol or ibuprofen or diclofenac for 2-3 times day is required to reduce the inflammation and pain.
I suggest you to meet your doctor again as it may turn into an abscess if not treated early with proper medications.
Do to try to pinch or pop the area and ask your husband to take rest.
All the best.
