Suggest Treatment For Large Bruise On Right Knee Along With Numbness

I was in a car accident. I went to ER snd have stitches in my left knee. I have a large horseshoe shaped bruise on my right knee which is numb. It was a head on collision. I was a passenger on a shuttle bus and my knees struck the row in front of me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The bruise is related to the accident. I suggest to do an X-ray of the knee to check for a fracture. Meanwhile, I suggest using painkillers such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I recommend using cold compresses for local application. I also suggest to maintain the knee immobilized and see an orthopedist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
