Suggest Treatment For Left-sided Pulsating Swollen Area On Neck

Yes - Thanks you for this service. I am having a muscle pulse on the left side of my neck. I can see in the mirror what appears to be a swelling area as apposed to the right side. The pulse is random and seems to travel towards my left ear. Any suggestions greatly accepted.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The following are possible causes of pulsatile swelling in neck:
1) Torturosity of common carotid artery
2) Torturosity of brachiocephalic artery
3) Pseudoaneurysm
4) Arterio venous fistula
5) Neurofibroma
6) Metastatic lymph node

Thorough physical examination followed by Doppler color imaging and digital subtraction angiography are to be done to arrive at a specific diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment. Please do consult a head and neck surgeon for evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
