Suggest Treatment For Leg Pain Due To Disc Pzrolapse

my dad is suffering from leg pain from 3 months. the MRI scan read that its due to the pressure exerted by the L4 nd L5 discs on his nerve which gives him the pain.but its thankfully minor. neurosurgeons suggested surgery while orthopeadicians suggested physiotherapy..... dad experienced pain after the first few sessions of the therapy and is hence scared to continue..... we were told by a lot of people who underwent surgery that surgery makes it worse....we are confused....please help....
