Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got a light sunburn on my face, which only burned at the touch, for a day. My face is still a little red but a small spot on my forehead felt rough so I scratched at it. It burned so I instantly stopped and didn't touch the area at all after that. Now there is something like a scab in the place I scratched and it still burns. Just wondering if that's normal for skin to do after a sunburn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You have light sunburn on the face which is due to ultraviolet (UV) rays which reacts to the skin and causes redness, soreness, and itchiness.
I would suggest you apply cold compresses two to three times a day or wash your face with cold water. You should drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If the condition doesn't get better in two to three days, then consult a dermatologist for proper examination and rule out causes like a skin infection or allergic reaction. The doctor may prescribe steroid ointment, antibiotics ( clindamycin ) or vitamin C supplement for quick recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
