I'm 29 years old and since I can Remember my lips peel all the time. They don't hurt or bother me in any way other than the fact that it doesn't look rite.. I have ask my doctor and he just tells me I need to drink plenty of fluids but that doesn't help either.. Any suggestions of what it is that I have ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain peeling of lips all the time can be due to a condition known as Exfoliative Chelitis and can occur due to conditions like lip biting, lip licking and lip sucking habit while causes like bacterial or fungal infection, mouth breathing etc.. I would suggest you to first of all avoid lip biting or lip licking habit as it further evaporates moisture from lips.. You should apply a thick coat pf petroleum jelly or bees wax containing lip balm.. You can also apply Tacrolimus and Marigold containing ointments over the lips.. You can exfoliate your lips with a gentle scrub.. In case if there is no improvement consult a Dermatologist and he can evaluate you for infection and antibiotic r antifungal medication can be advised depending upon infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
