Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
We have a friend staying with us that states was diagnosed with scerosis of the liver, probably not correct spelling, anyhow he told me a Dr. told him he had about 2 or 3 months to live due to this and I asked when did this Dr. tell you this , and he stated 2 or 3 months ago, I am curious if there are any signs or symptoms I should be aware of or should be noticing? He drinks heavily and takes medication, but I have no clue what to look for medically or if we may be taken for a ride for a place to live etc.
Hi Cirrhosis means liver failure. He must have stopped drinking as it is one of the most important culprits of liver disease. Certain signs on liver failure include yellowing of eyes and skin, blood stained or even yellow vomiting, heartburn, tremors, aggressive behaviour, increased sleep, poor cognition, lack of orientation, & even coma depending upon the stage of disease. Medicines will not be effective if he doesn't stop drinking.
