Suggest Treatment For Loose Bowel Movement After Infection

I have had penicillin because of infection below my root in my bicuspid and this has caused problems with my intestinal tract. I eat plain low fat yogurt and also take probiotics. I am now eating some sauerkraut. My stool is not hard but am wondering when I will get back to a regular bowel movement?

HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

Definitely you will get back your regular bowel movement. But first we need to diagnose whether your loose motion is due to your Penicillin intake or it is a separate gut infection .

For that I would recommend a test called Stool Routine , Stool Culture Sensitivity test. Kindly get this test done and revert back to me .

This is important because if it is a separate gut infection then you will need an additional antibiotic to cover that gut infection. But if it is only due to your Penicillin intake just few more days of Probiotics and you will be alright.

Hope this information is useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

hi dear,
If there is no associated blood in stool ,abdominal pain or fever, this need not be worried.
We can expect that to be normal by 5-7 days after stopping the antibiotics.
Hope this answer will help.
Thank you.
