Hi,
Diarrhea in children is most commonly viral and just needs supportive treatment with anti emetic, zinc and probiotics (first prescription). In cases associated with
fever, painful defecation or blood or mucus mixed stools, we need an antibiotic too (second prescription). So both prescriptions are on the right track, although I would prefer to omit rcifax from the second prescription(only very rarely we need multiple antibiotics)
Anyhow, if she is not looking ill and lethargic, no continuing fever, taking feeds and is playful, you need not worry. Just complete treatment as advised. She will be alright shortly. It may take few more days for bowel to get normalised. If aforementioned features are not present, nothing to worry.
Give frequent sips of
ORS solution to prevent
dehydration, avoid juices and sugary items as these can increase loose stools.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
