Suggest Treatment For Loose Stools Caused By Overdose Of Stool Softeners

I took too much stool softner,fiber, & med for chronic constipation. Linzess I emptied my bowel & it became running brown thin stool. Dr. advised Kopecetate, Didn t tell me dosage. I took K 4X ON sAT. 525 SOMETHINGS. i M eating applesauce & skim milk. I don t want to take more, have stopped all laxitives, just taking needed Tramadol, high blood pressure meds ,beutimide ( water pill ) for congestive heart failure & vitamins & calcium .

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of loose stools caused by overdose of stool softeners which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis and due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take proper rest. You should have plenty of fluids to rehydrate. You should take diet rich in multivitamins. You should do tepid sponging as well. Avoid intake of outside hot and spicy food substances. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done to find out underlying cause of your condition whether bacterial or viral and start treatment accordingly. You should give child diet rich in fibres and proton pump inhibitors. Your symptoms will resolve in 3-5 days.
