Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Voice While Raising A Voice

I am an 86 year old male, good health. When I ry to talk in a slightly raised voice, my voice just gives out. I stop making any sound. I live at Creekside, a retirement community, 7511 Shallowford Rd. Chattanooga. A retired doctor, who I asked advice, said that I needed to see an ENT. I have Medicare and a supplement. Tuesday is the date that the bus takes us to see doctors. I need to see someone around 9:00. Please RSVP. Thanks. Don Jones Tomorrow or next Tuesday.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

These type of symptoms at your age is not uncommon. This may be just a voice fatigue; it could also be something related to the nerves controlling the voice. Yes, you should see an ENT - only after proper examination through a scope can a diagnosis be arrived at. You need not worry too much on this. Meanwhile, limit your talk and rest your voice till you visit the doctor.
