Suggest Treatment For Low TSH Levels While Having Hashimoto S Disease

I am 75 years old, have Hashimotos since age 37. Currently I am taking 120 mg of Armour thyroid. Tests show my TSH is low. My blood pressure is running higher than normal. My doctor now decreased my thyroid meds. How long before I will see results. Thank you!

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Hashimotos thyroiditis is characterized by increased thyroid hormones - T3 and T4 and low TSH.

The treatment for Hashimoto's thyroiditis is aimed to keep thyroid hormones and TSH within normal limits. The medication for thyroid disorder takes approximately 1-1.5 months to have any substantial effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
