Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing a low pulse rate of around 42 beats per minute, I am 58 years old have a history of High blood pressure, never a pulse rate problem until about 3 weeks ago, since then it s been ongoing, I am aprx. 30 pounds over weight, but am working on it, I have always watched my salt intake and drink very little caffiene.
For this reason, I would recommend performing a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound.
Other tests to consider would be thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction and an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring in order to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist

Suggest Treatment For Low Heart Rate
Hello, I would explain that this heart rate is indicative of bradycardia. Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
